Reiki for Animals

Most animals, whether pets or wild, recognise Reiki's power to heal. They intuitively know whether they want to accept it and if so for how long. Once they have had enough, they simply move away. Animals can often respond to Reiki more quickly than people and so you can see the benefits in a short time.

Reiki heals at all levels of an animal's being and does not cause stress discomfort or pain.

For animals, Reiki works well as a complementary therapy alongside treatments prescribed by vets. It can help speed up healing from operations, ease pain and generally improve an animal's quality of life.

All animals, whether healthy, ill or even dying, will benefit from Reiki treatments.

For healthy animals, Reiki treatments help their overall state of health high, reduce stress and generally improves their well being.

For animals that are ill, Reiki can help to soothe and relax them. This can enable the body's own healing process to work better leading to a faster recovery. It can also help animals to handle any pain they may be feeling.

For dying animals Reiki is a gentle and effective way to provide comfort and pain relief. It can help to reduce anxiety and fear and and help them move from this life to the next. Reiki can also help owners deal with the grief of losing a favourite pet.

When treating animals, I usually start by creating the energy a short distance away. This enables the animal to decide whether it wants to accept the treatment and to build trust. It helps that I have always had a natural way with animals, they seem happy to accept me. Presently, my hens (both healthy) benefit from regular treatments.

Prices

Given the nature of animals, treatment times can vary widely. The basic fee for a treatment is £40, but if it is over very quickly, I will offer a discount.

Legislation

It is essential that you obtain veterinary treatment for a sick or dying animal. Below are extracts from relevant legislation.

The Veterinary Surgery Act of 1966 prohibits anyone, other than a qualified veterinary surgeon from treating animals, including diagnosis of ailments and giving advice on such diagnosis.

However the healing of animals by contact healing, by the laying of hands or distant healing is legal. The Protection of Animals Act 1911 requires that if an animal clearly needs treatment from a veterinary surgeon the owner must obtain this. To give emergency First Aid to animals for the purpose of saving life or relieving pain is permissible under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 Schedule 3 (taken from the UK Reiki Federation Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice - March 2002)
